Album Lyrics

Here are the lyrics to Shook Foil's new EP:

Lullaby For Waking Up

Da do do duh duh do do do do

Swimming In The Sea

I’m just a boy going swimming in the sea
Waiting on my tidal wave to come take care of me
I’ve heard there’s a million other fish out there for me
But I'm just trying to find the right one

I’m just a boy studying philosophy
Trying to figure out exactly who I’m going to be
Truth becomes obscure when your ideas are too plenty
But I’m just trying to find the right one

Why’d You go to
A place it seems where I can’t know You?
The thought-provoking undertow
Is never going to let me go.
When You return,
I wonder what You’ll say I’ve earned?
"Depart from me, you goat, and burn."
Are You even going to show concern?

I’m just a boy trying my best to resist
Pointlessness, so scholarly, that you seem to insist
I think, therefore I can be sure that I exist,
But I can’t be so sure about you?

I’m just a boy trying my best not to worry;
Truth will come when truth will come, there’s no point to this flurry.
The devil likes to rush because the devil’s in a hurry,
So I’m just trying to slow myself down.

Why’d You go to
A place it seems where I can’t know You?
The thought-provoking undertow
Is never going to let me go.
When You arrive,
The target of a billion eyes,
We'll laugh because it's no surprise;
Don't know what was going through my mind!
Like Ares comes the bridegroom, taller far than a tall man
I, the bride, will have my questions answered only if I can
Lie and wait nightlong, purchase plenty oil in advance
Raise high the roof beam, carpenter!

A Bit Of Levity

Let's write a song in the sand,
Something that's profound, something we can't stand;
Let's write it by the ocean,
So it'll wash out when the tide comes in.
Don't get distracted, I've got something to say!
And even if I don't, you'll hear this song I wrote and think it's something, anyway,
We work, we write, we live (we try),
And whether good or bad, in the end we die,
And not a one of us gets a chance to stay.

Dear friend, oh, dearest stranger,
Think we're in danger, think we're in sin;
Let's bring a bit of levity,
To all this brevity that we're trapped in.

Las Palabras

We're not sure, we don't speak Spanish.

Second Hand

A daily cup of coffee,
A weekly wood-tipped Jewel,
I can't survive without stimulants in my body,
A masochistic kind of cool.

Despising my behavior,
Yet somehow unwilling to change,
Imagining it would be easier,
If everybody knew my name.

The second hand is lucky,
In its circle it can stay,
It knows that it completes the purpose it was made for
Every second, every day.

The Prayer of St Franny

Over-taught, my thoughts become a haze,
Reason flees, neuroticism stays,
I'm having the most self-destructive days,
Just trying to imitate the pilgrim's ways.

I'm over analyzing,
I crave a new simplicity,
So let my natural heartbeat be:

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.

Mother Bessie thinks I've gone insane,
Brother Zooey's started with his games,
He's turned this moment's sacrament profane,
I'm no better, I've called your name in vain.

The way I've gone's become a sin,
Now nothing more than emotion,
If I'm to know You, let me in.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.

God instructs the heart through pain and contradiction,
What in God's name is going on in me,
A broken glass, filled to the brim with confusion,
Redeem me, Lord, from my piousness.
